Investment Services firms based in Cyprus or based in a third country and providing investment services in Cyprus, as well as any other organisation offering investment services in Cyprus, are expected to employ individuals who hold the appropriate qualifications.

This, therefore, creates the need for all such individuals to be holders of Professional Competence Certificates that reflect their ability to carry out such activities.

Exam Structure

The course aims to equip participants with:

• An understanding of the Cypriot and European legal and regulatory framework and practice
• An understanding of the relevant analytical tools that will enable participants analyse financial statements and improve their decision making ability
• Equip participants with the necessary knowledge in the areas of Money Laundering, Risk Management and Economics

The Certificates offered by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) in Cyprus consist of the General Part and six Specific certificates. The General Part is the core knowledge required by all persons dealing with Investment Services in Cyprus, and is therefore a requirement for all. Depending on the nature of work undertaken by each person, there may be an additional requirement to obtain some of the Specific Certificates also.

• Reception and transmission of orders in relation to one or more Financial Instruments
• Execution of orders on behalf of clients
• Dealing on own account
• Portfolio Management
• Investment Advice
• Underwriting and/or placing of financial instruments whether on a firm commitment basis or not
